Puffin has scooped Tuck and Tina, the first in a new colour illustrated series, from “impressive” duo Jess Brallier and Jack Keely.
Fiction publisher Jane Griffiths acquired world rights in a three-book deal from Kelly Dyksterhouse at the Tobias Agency on exclusive submission. Tuck and Tina will be published in March 2025 for readers aged six and over.
Told in an “accessible” diary format, the series follows two mice as they navigate friendships, rivalries, triumphs and challenges. In the first instalment, Tina, who lives at Boone Elementary, and Tuck, the new classroom pet, must work together to find an ancient treasure that may be the key to saving the school from closure.
Griffiths commented: “The popularity of colour illustrated fiction shows no sign of slowing, especially in this younger space, with families looking for books to help children bridge the gap between picture books and first chapter stories. Jess’ hilarious storytelling combined with Jack’s vibrant illustration style make Tuck and Tina irresistible and I know readers will be clamouring for the next book in the series.”
Brallier and Keely added: “We thought a journal for readers younger than the millions who enjoy Diary of a Wimpy Kid could surprise the market just as that series once did. So we had the idea of a journal of a curious mouse who writes and illustrates by dipping her tail into a bottle of ink
“So we are absolutely delighted to be working with Puffin to bring Tuck and Tina to – fingers crossed – millions of young readers.”
