W H Smith has opened two new-format children’s stores called Zoodle selling books and toys.
The stores are located in Manchester airport, have a yellow colour theme and will sell children’s books, toys and stationery to target “the younger traveller”.
The first store opened on Sunday (3rd February) and the second will open on Thursday (7th February). The first Zoodle store was opened in Melbourne Airport in Australia in December.
W H Smith travel chief operating officer, Simon Smith, said: “We are delighted to be opening our first Zoodle by W H Smith stores in the UK at Manchester Airport, just before half term and well ahead of the summer peak. We are very much looking forward to providing children and their families with everything they need before they fly.”
Beth Brewster, retail director for MAG, owners of Manchester Airport, said the venue was expected to see more than 20m visitors pass through its gates this year.
She added: “I know our younger customers are going to really enjoy it and from the feedback we receive we know that passengers want to have more child-friendly products while they’re waiting for their flights, so Zoodle certainly fits into that category.”
