Walker Books has launched a competition to find the best children's bedtime stories written by grandparents and parents, in association with Mumsnet and Gransnet.
The ten winning entries will be published by Walker in illustrated title The Mumsnet Book of Bedtime Stories, slated for release in October 2013.
The judging panel will be led by former children's laureate and author Michael Rosen, with Walker Books publisher Denise Johnstone-Burt, Walker senior art director Louise Jackson, Mumsnet associate editor Rachel Foster, and Gransnet editor Geraldine Bedell completing the line-up.
The panel will select 20 stories, no longer than 1,500 words, which will then be made available online for Mumsnet and Gransnet users to vote for their favourite ten.
The winners will be announced on 18th February 2013, with each winning £500 as well as having their story published. The book will be an illustrated gift book aimed at under sevens, with the judges looking for "fresh voices, original contemporary ideas and stories that children will love".
Johnstone-Burt said: "Walker Books is delighted to have formed this partnership with Mumsnet and Gransnet. As a publisher, we know how important it is to share stories and this is the perfect opportunity to engage with and encourage storytelling within the family community."
