Plans for the American publication of The Jewel of Medina in the US remain in place and retailer support remains firm, Eric Kampmann, president of Beaufort Books, Medina’s US publisher, said. The Guardian also reports that the UK publisher Martin Rynja is understood to be "undeterred", though it has not spoken to the publisher.
According to Publishers Weekly, Kampmann said the situation in the US and UK--where publisher Martin Rynja's house and office were fire-bombed over the weekend--are different, with the UK faced with more radical groups.
Kampmann said when he first took on the book following its cancellation by Random House, he did not believe its publication would result in violence in the US. He still downplays the possibility of any sort of attack, but given the events in the UK, said he is now being “super cautious.”
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail takes a look at Rynja, with http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1064541/Prophet-Mohammed-novel-T... target="_blank">a profile of the publisher and his previous high-profile projects.
