Amazon publishing imprint Thomas & Mercer has acquired two psychological thrillers by Mark Edwards. Edwards has been a self-published hit on Kindle as well as publishing with HarperCollins.
Emilie Marneur, senior acquisitions editor at Thomas & Mercer, signed world rights to the two books from agent Sam Copeland of Rogers, Coleridge and White.
Edwards released The Magpies in March through Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing platform with sales cited at 170,000 copies. It will now be republished by Thomas & Mercer this winter in the UK and US, with a further book, Because She Loves Me, out the following summer. The titles will be published in print and audio as well as digital.
Edwards is also published by HarperCollins, for novels co-written with Louise Voss. HarperCollins bought four books from the duo, who had already had success on KDP, in 2011. Edwards said he would continue to co-write novels with Voss and that the pair are putting the final touches to their fifth novel together.
He added: “The success of The Magpies has given me a new lease of life as a writer and I can’t wait to see what happens next. I’m particularly excited that the two books will be published by Amazon in the US.”
