Liverpool University Press is to acquire University of Exeter Press' medieval studies, classics and ancient history, history, archaeology and landscape studies lists.
UEP will continue to publish in film and performance studies and in south-west studies, as well as to distribute some North American academic presses.
Anthony Cond, m.d. of LUP, said: "This is an important strategic move for Liverpool University Press, giving it world-class medieval studies and classics lists to sit either side of the acclaimed Translated Texts for Historians series, a stronger presence in maritime studies and some outstanding modern history titles. "Much of the Exeter list will also be
made available digitally for the first time, he added.
Around 350 titles will be transferring to LUP.
UEP publisher and m.d. Simon Baker said the move was "a strategic rationalising exercise", with UEP continuing to produce around 20 titles a year.
