Secretary of state Jeremy Hunt will be presented with a petition of more than 12,000 signatures tomorrow (27th October), demanding he intervenes to reverse the closure of six libraries in Brent, north London.
Hunt has remained silent on the decision to close the libraries. Last week the children's and families minister Sarah Teather, the Liberal Democrat MP for Brent, called on Hunt to intervene.
Campaigners said: "With swingeing cuts to other services for disabled, elderly, children and low income families, the library was their last refuge. A single, efficient means of serving multiple needs, providing information, education and a safe space, to everyone."
