The Ideal Home Show is to feature a series of author events and book signings this year.
The Ideal Home Show Book Club will take place during the whole 17-day event, in Earls Court, at which some 250,000 visitors are expected. The Club is being organised by former Cassell publisher Mathew Clayton on behalf of the show's organiser's Media Ten, and run in conjunction with HMV.
The music retailer is providing a 'pop-up' shop that has been specially created for an exhibition environment. At lunchtime each day in one of the show's theatres there will be an author interview followed by a signing in the HMV shop. A selection of CDs and DVDs will be included alongside books.
Clayton said it was "a fantastic opportunity for publishers and their authors to promote themselves to a really large audience that is sure to include a lots of new potential readers".
He added that the initial reaction had been "very good", with "big names" from genres such as cooking, women's fiction and gardening to be announced "in the next few weeks".
HMV spokesperson Gennaro Castaldo said: "The pop-up shops we opened around the country for Christmas attracted a great deal of interest, but we have also been trailing smaller entertainment-based formats that are more suited to exhibition events, and we are very pleased to bring our entertainment offer to the Ideal Home Show."
