HarperNonFiction has launched an eight-part podcast for a new sports book called The Mixer by journalist Michael Cox.
The Mixer is the "first book to delve deep into the tactical story of the Premier League, and take a long view of how the game has developed over the last quarter century", according to the publisher. "From Ferguson’s directness to Keegan’s relentlessly attacking Newcastle outfit, to Mourinho’s cagey, reactive Chelsea, all the way to Ranieri’s counter-attacking champions, The Mixer is one of the most entertaining, rich and knowledgeable football books ever written."
The book publishes today (1st June).
Presented by Marcus Speller of "The Football Ramble", with Cox as regular panellist with a different guest panellist each week, the podcast will be focused on the tactical development of a different football position over 25 years of the Premier League. The content is relevant to the book to engage listeners around it but "completely differentiated", the publisher said.
The first episode, which was released on Monday (29th May), is currently number 29 in the overall iTunes podcast chart. Each subsequent episode will be released weekly each Wednesday. It is available on iTunes and Audioboom and will be coming soon to Spotify.
As part of the promotional campaign the publisher has created a series of gifs featuring classic players of the Premier League era which will be released with each podcast.
