HarperCollins has reorganised its communications team following the departure of Siobhan Kenny, with Susanna Frayn becoming communications director.
Frayn, who will report into director of people John Athanasiou, first joined HarperCollins in 2001, joining from the BBC where she headed the factual publicity team. She has recently been working part time as communications manager for the publisher.
Sam Missingham [pictured], who has been head of events and marketing at The Bookseller, will join HarperCollins in the newly created role of head of events, while James Lewis has been promoted to communications content officer. Missingham will work on divisional and corporate events across the company, incorporating books events into the publisher's business strategy.
Missingham has been at The Bookseller since 2008, where she has taken responsibility for running The Bookseller Industry Awards and conferences.
In a further change, communications team assistant Sarah Patterson will be leaving the business to return to Australia in December.
HarperCollins UK chief executive Charlie Redmayne said: "In any business, communication is always key. It’s particularly important to the future success of HarperCollins at this crucial time of transition and as we prepare to move to new shared offices with News Corp. The new Comms team combines an impressive wealth of experience and an in-depth knowledge of our business with a fresh new burst of energy and expertise."
