Zaffre, the flagship commercial fiction imprint of Bonnier Books UK, has pre-empted a new book-themed fantasy by author Gryffin Murphy.
Publishing director Kelly Smith acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, for Twig’s Traveling Tomes by Gryffin Murphy from Anna Carmichael of Abner Stein in a pre-empt following an exclusive submission.
The book will be published by Zaffre in hardback, e-book and audiobook in September 2026, simultaneously with Bindery Books in the US.
"Twig’s Traveling Tomes follows Louella Twig, a unique witch with a magical affinity for books, who owns a travelling bookstore," the synopsis says. "After accepting a quest to find a rare stolen grimoire, she reluctantly teams up with a charming rogue, her former professor and a gnome, and soon learns that romance is easier read than done."
Murphy said: "I am so excited about this book. The enthusiasm I’ve received from Kelly and the team has meant the world to me and I could not be more thrilled to be embarking on this journey with Bonnier."
Smith added: "I am delighted to be sharing this charming, whimsical bookish fantasy romance with readers this year. Twig’s Traveling Tomes is heart-warming and soul-filling. Gryffin has written the perfect read to stay inside for."
