Titan Books has acquired a "terrifying literary horror" by debut author Todd S Jordan in a two-book deal. Senior editor Daniel Carpenter acquired world English- language rights (plus audio) to The Flesh I Want, plus one other novel, via Julie Gourinchas at Bell Lomax Moreton Agency. Publication is scheduled for February 2027.
The book follows 16-year-old Tim who helps run his family winery in the remote Oldscoombe Valley. The synopsis continues: “One day he stumbles across a woman hiding at the bottom of the well near his house. She’s beautiful. She’s soaked in blood. She says she’s killed a man. Tim must only feed her, clothe her and keep her safe. Infatuated, Tim steals gifts for her and over time, her requests escalate from wine to live animals, which alter her appearance in horrifying ways. As the power balance shifts, the line between pet and prisoner starts to blur. The woman demands a human sacrifice whose identity she can consume. And Tim must choose: the unsuspecting woman he covets, or the mother who abandoned him and broke his heart.”
The publisher described The Flesh I Want as a captivating story about desire, the male gaze and the lengths we will go to satisfy our hunger. Jordan has been mentored by Sunday Times bestseller Sunyi Dean through WriteHive.

Jordan said: “Like so many readers, I’ve voraciously devoured Titan’s horror catalogue in recent years. To see my own debut become a part of such esteemed company is beyond a dream come true. I’d like to thank Daniel Carpenter and the team for taking a chance on this disgusting little book of blood and guts and feathers. I really hope it gets under your skin.”
Carpenter said: “The Flesh I Want is an exceptional literary horror debut about the gory and extreme lengths men can go to in order to satisfy their hunger. Carve off pieces of The Lamb and The Wasp Factory in equal measure and you’ll have something close to Todd S Jordan’s beautiful and bizarre novel. It’s a pleasure to be publishing Todd and bringing him on board our ever growing, exciting horror list here at Titan.”
Gourinchas added: “What a privilege it’s been to work with Todd. I couldn’t be more delighted to help bring his immense talent (and gut-churning gore) to life alongside the wonderful team at Titan. I can’t wait for readers to discover what lies at the bottom of that well…”
