Sci-fi author Temi Oh’s next two novels will be published by Simon & Schuster UK (S&S UK).
Judith Murray at Greene & Heaton negotiated the two-book deal for the currently untitled novels, with Mina Asaam, assistant editor at S&S UK who bought world rights in a joint acquisition with Joe Monti at Saga Press.
The first book will be published in 2026 and is a family drama set at the end of the world. “Following a family reckoning with complex, personal issues in the shadow of a large unidentified object rapidly approaching for collision with Earth,” S&S UK said.
Oh has published two novels with S&S UK already, Do You Dream of Terra Two? and recently, More Perfect. She explores themes such as love, loneliness, and coming of age in an ever more technologically advanced and connected world.
Asaam said: “I’m so glad to have acquired Temi’s next two books for our list. She’s a wonderful writer and I’m so happy that we’ll be the ones to continue to grow her career. Temi writes so beautifully, diving to the emotional core of ’Black Mirror’-esque, futuristic issues facing us over the next few generations. And I know this next book will deliver both incredible world building and characters which are complex and flawed but engaging nonetheless.”
Oh said: “I’m thrilled to work with Simon & Schuster on two more books, and grateful for the way that they have supported my creativity since the start of my career. I’m excited to explore this new apocalyptic world, and the complex family at its heart.”
Murray commented: “I love how – as with all the best sci-fi – Temi’s novels are of course ways to see our own old worlds and ways of being afresh, and that she still gives us hope that the future can and will be better. Her writing is as thought-provoking intellectually as it is emotionally rich and satisfying, and I am so excited to see how her readership will grow with these next two novels.”
Oh is a neuroscience graduate and a screenwriter. She has written stories for Marvel’s "Black Panther", "Dr Who" and "Overwatch". Her first short film “Murmur” was funded by Sky Arts and the BFI. Since then, she has written on the Netflix TV series “Castlevania: Nocturne” and the CBBC series “Silverpoint”.
