Post Wave charges for William Grill's 'sweeping' illustrated history of energy
Post Wave Children’s Books has acquired Power: The Story of Energy by the award-winning creator of Shackleton’s Journey, William Grill.
Harriet Birkinshaw, chief editor at Post Wave Berlin Studio, acquired world rights for the book, pitched as “a sweeping illustrated history of how humans have harnessed energy, from fire to fusion”, directly from the author-illustrator.
Grill, whose debut Shackleton’s Journey won the Kate Greenaway Medal and whose second book The Wolves of Currumpaw (both Flying Eye Books) won the 2016 Bologna Ragazzi Prize for Non-fiction, said: “I am over the moon to be working with the team at Post Wave. Energy, how we use it, how it has unlocked human progress and transformed civilisation has been a fascination of mine for years, and I can’t wait to share this remarkable story through illustration.”
Birkinshaw added: “We are proud to be bringing William Grill’s latest book to Post Wave. He has a rare ability to blend rigorous research with a deeply human, atmospheric style of visual storytelling, opening up complex ideas for young readers while perfectly capturing what we are building at Post Wave Berlin Studio: artist-led, visually distinctive and timeless books.”
Power: The Story of Energy will be published in spring 2029.
