Magic Cat is publishing Under the Olive Moon, a book of Palestinian fables co-authored by Nour Ferwana, a mother from Gaza, and best-selling author of the Little People, Big Dreams series Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara.
Co-founder and publisher Rachel Williams acquired the manuscript directly from the co-authors, and illustrator Raahat Kaduji. Williams will act as the editor of Under the Olive Moon before its release in October 2026.
Under the Olive Moon includes 10 fables that Ferwana told her children from her tent in Gaza.
“Sometimes I invent recipes with the food I can find – and sometimes I tell them the old stories from my childhood,” Ferwana said. “The stories in this book are the ones passed from parents to children in Palestine.”
Vegara added: “Nour and I decided to gather these stories into a book so that they would never be lost. My part has been to write the stories she told me, so that her words can travel beyond the walls of her tent and reach children everywhere.”
Williams said: “Under the Olive Moon honours every child’s right to a childhood – to live, play and imagine freely. In retelling these ancient fables, we are reminded of the power of stories to protect what makes us human.”
