Gollancz has snapped up three epic fantasy novels from JT Greathouse, beginning with the standalone novel The Tower of the Tyrant.
Editorial director Brendan Durkin acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Stevie Finegan at Zeno Agency on behalf of Joshua Bilmes at JABberwocky Agency.
"Brendan Durkin at Gollancz spotted Jeremy as a fantastic fantasy writer from the moment I took him out into the market", said Finegan. "He launched his career with Jeremy’s first published book and with The Tower of the Tyrant continues to grow it from strength to strength."
Bilmes added: "With The Hand of the Sun King, JT Greathouse and Gollancz had, deservedly, one of the most lauded fantasy debuts of 2021. The Tower of the Tyrant scales everything up, with a larger cast, a larger scope, a larger threat to both the brilliantly realized characters and imaginative world, and I expect the laurels to be similarly more abundant when the book publishes this autumn."
Set in the fantastical world of Thaumedony, The Tower of the Tyrant follows sorceress Fola whose quest to uncover the secrets of the First Folk brings her to a cursed kingdom plagued with wraiths and the mysterious death of a king.
Durkin said: "Jeremy is one of the most gifted writers of fantasy I know, and I’m beyond thrilled to continue our publishing partnership. The Tower of the Tyrant delivers everything you could want from a fantasy – high-stakes adventure, magic in abundance and a cast of characters you can’t help but fall in love with."
Greathouse commented: "I’m thrilled to be working with Gollancz again. Brendan was enthusiastic for me to develop the world of Thaumedony as a fantasy sandbox from the moment I pitched it, and his edits on The Tower of the Tyrant were brilliant as always. I can’t wait for readers to experience Fola’s story and get a glimpse of what has us both so excited."
The Tower of the Tyrant will be published on 6th November 2025.
