Ebury has signed How to Talk to AI from tech commentator and author Jamie Bartlett, whose previous books include The Dark Net (Melville House) and The People vs Tech (Ebury Press), the winner of the Transmission Prize 2019.
Publisher Andrew Goodfellow and commissioning editor Cameron Myers bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Caroline Michel at Peters Fraser and Dunlop for publication on 9th April 2026, in paperback, e-book and audio.
The synopsis reads: “It’s one of the biggest and fastest technological changes in history – but most people still don’t really understand how AI machines work, how to make the most of them – or what the dangers are. Jamie Bartlett takes the reader inside the machine: showing how we can stay in control of our powerful new companions, even as they are changing the way we live, feel and think.”
Myers added: “This book will be a thrilling deep-dive and guide, full of original stories and interviews. Jamie has been ahead of the curve on this emerging technology for years, and I can’t wait for people to read what he has to share.”
Bartlett said: “For the first time, we face smart machines that can converse with us, persuade us and change how we understand the world. Learning the art of conversation with AI is fast becoming a skill that everyone must now learn. Done well, it will enrich our lives in amazing ways. But done carelessly, it will expose us to terrifying new forms of manipulation, dependency and delusion. This decade’s greatest challenge is learning how to stay in control in a world of ubiquitous AI. I hope this book will show you how.”
