Welbeck is to publish Michelle Elman's latest self-help guide, The Joy of Being Selfish: Why You Need Boundaries and How to Set Them.
Executive editor Isabel Wilkinson acquired English language rights for the UK, Commonwealth, and Europe, from Hayley Steed at the Madeleine Milburn Agency.
The book will offer step-by-step tips on how to create and "uphold strong boundaries, rid our lives of drama and toxic relationships, and show readers how to love and respect themselves for a happier life".
Elman is an accredited life coach, activist, influencer and TedX speaker. She is most known for her social media campaign, Scarred Not Scared, and has appeared on "Sky News", "Loose Women", "Channel 5 News" and BBC Radio London. She has also written for publications including HuffPost, Grazia, Metro and Stylist. Her TedX talk "Have You Hated Your Body Enough Today?" has been viewed over 50,000 times and her debut book, Am I Ugly? (Head of Zeus), was released in 2018.
She said: "I am so grateful for the opportunity to spread a message I believe the world needs. ‘Boundaries’ has become a buzzword this year, but what does it actually take to both set and hold them? Self-care is something everyone is an advocate of but we need to recognise that in order to create time and energy for ourselves, we must challenge the negative associations with selfishness and realise that time spent alone is never time wasted. I hope this book will be the toolkit people need to do the work, enhance their communication and reap the rewards of standing up for themselves."
Wilkinson said: "I am thrilled to be working with Michelle on her essential, empowering and inspiring new book. Michelle's followers will know that she is the queen of boundaries, and there is no better author to guide them on how to revolutionise their lives by embracing the joy of being selfish!"
The book will be released in hardback on 4th February 2021.
