Trigger Publishing has snapped up the début mental health and wellbeing title by "Time To Talk" podcast host Alex Holmes, which encourages men to open up about love, belonging and connection.
Publisher Jo Lal acquired world rights (excluding audio) from Natalie Jerome at Aevitas Creative Management for Time to Talk: How Men Feel about Love, Belonging and Connection, which will publish in paperback in April 2021, in time for Mental Health Awareness Week in May.
"By being honest about his own journey as a young, black, British male, Alex aims to remove the taboo of opening up about mental health, specifically for men from working class and diverse backgrounds, and to encourage vulnerability and openness," reads the synopsis. "With suicide being the leading cause of death in British men under the age of 45, this book will provide a unique and important perspective on the issues discussed and will work to diversify the conversation in this area."
Holmes said: "I have always been passionate about health, wellbeing, mental wellness and holding space for people. Being able to expand the conversation through ideas around love, belonging and connection is something I can't wait to do. It really is time to talk about all of the things we, as men, don't typically feel we have the space to."
Lal added: "Alex is a new and exciting voice in the mental health and wellness space, he talks from the heart and from experience. Time to Talk is an important addition to the expanding Trigger mental health list."
