HarperFiction has signed a three-book series by Alexandra Brown, all set in the fictional picture-postcard village of Tindledale.
Commissioning editor Kate Bradley signed world English rights to the books in a deal with Tim Bates at Pollinger Ltd.
The first book, The Great Christmas Knit Off, will be released in November 2014. It follows the story of Sybil, who escapes the pain of being jilted at the altar through knitting. Subsequent books, which will all take place in the village, will be released at six-monthly intervals, with short stories bridging the gaps between books.
Bradley said: "Alexandra has a wonderfully fresh voice which really sparkles – her books are not only funny but quirky and poignant too. The wonderful cast of characters she has created will broaden her appeal and expand her readership. One thing that Alexandra really excels at is tapping into the zeitgeist, and the genius plotting that blends romance and woolly homemade tea cosies will have a massive appeal."
HarperFiction has previously published a series of novels by Brown centred around fictional department store Carrington's.
