The Bookseller will publish its fifth annual Black Issue on 27th June 2025, guest edited by associate editor Natasha Onwuemezi.
Submissions are now being welcomed for the issue, including interviews, features and opinion pieces.
Onwuemezi is looking for articles focusing on Black book-trade personnel and subjects around the Black experience in the industry. Pitches from prospective writers, which can include authors, agents, editors and booksellers, should be sent to natasha.onwuemezi@gmail.com by 23rd May.
The 2024 Black issue included a feature on the rise of Black nature writers, a look back at Allison & Busby’s publication of Sam Greenlee’s groundbreaking The Spook Who Sat by the Door and interviews with authors Jason Okundaye, Aamna Mohdin and Nadine Matheson.
A preview of books by Black authors and illustrators will also be published in the same issue.
Book submissions, for titles to be released between June 2025 and May 2026, should be sent to The Bookseller by 16th May.
