Shaller leaves HC for newly created role at S&S UK

Luke Shaller will join Simon & Schuster UK as c.f.o. for its UK and international dealings in a newly created role, following almost a decade with HarperCollins.

Currently financial controller at HarperCollins, Shaller will join S&S UK in the summer and report to Ian Chapman, c.e.o. and publisher for UK International. In the newly created position, Shaller will oversee the strategic financial direction of the company and join the board. With overall responsibility for finance and operations, he will also fulfil a crucial role in liaising with the global businesses in the United States, Australia and India.

At HarperCollins, Shaller manages the group finance and sales analytics functions. Previously as commercial director, he worked across a number of different imprints including 4th Estate, William Collins, Harper Press, Avon and the Children’s Books division.

Chapman said: “This is a very exciting appointment. Luke brings with him great experience, insight, intelligence as well as a huge passion for books. This new role allows us to continue our focus on profitability and, working with our colleagues in the US, Australia and India, to deliver sustained long-term growth.”

Shaller said: “I am thrilled to be joining Simon & Schuster UK and can't wait to meet the team and get to work. After almost 10 happy years with HarperCollins I am looking forward to this exciting opportunity to work with Ian and the team to help realise Simon & Schuster's full potential.”
