Profile goes D2C with three new websites

Profile Books has launched three new "fully responsive" consumer-facing websites which will enable readers to purchase both print and e-books directly from Profile.

The main Profile Books site showcases the "eclectic, high-quality non-fiction for which Profile is best known" while Serpent's Tail has its own site, with editorially-led news content and author features. Profile has also launched Profile Business, a new site designed to highlight the publisher's economics and business books. All three sites were built in collaboration with software and web developers, Firsty Group.

The sites are built on the Magento CMS infrastructure, with print fulfilment from TBS and e-book fulfilment directly via Firsty, and will offer customers a choice of social, or full digital rights management (DRM) on titles.

The sites allow for a wide range of marketing promotions and offers, and the publisher is "looking forward to getting to know its customers better, as well as building fan bases for its key genres and subject areas", Profile has said.

Clare Grist Taylor, Profile Books operations director, said: "Profile and Serpent’s Tail have always had a distinctive purpose and voice and we wanted our online presence to reflect these strengths. Our new sites will be a be a great place for our authors, partners and readers to meet, share and be part of the Profile family."

Darin Brockman, c.e.o. of Firsty, said: "It’s been an absolute pleasure working with the Profile team, as there’s been a common energy, dedication and drive throughout. We’re thoroughly looking forward to developing the working relationship over the months and years ahead, and increasing that strong Profile brand amongst its target audience."
