Alan Bennett read from his diaries Keeping On Keeping On (Faber & Faber and Profile Books) at an event organised by the London Review Bookshop at the Union Chapel on Wednesday 26th October.

 

Chorleywood Bookshop was named the Vintage Independent Bookshop of the Year 2016 for its "sustained and varied" programme of activity over the summer.

 

Bookomi’s Richard Kilgarriff (left) hosted a Books for Breakfast event with Ed Yong, author of I Contain Multitudes (HarperCollins), in Soho on Friday 21st October.

 

The international publishers of A Boy Made of Blocks by Keith Stuart (pictured centre, holding the book) celebrated the book at a joint dinner. Attendees included Catherine Burke, publisher at Sphere Fiction and executive director of Group Rights and Hachette Audio UK, Little, Brown c.e.o David Shelley,  Charlie King, m.d. of Little, Brown, Ed Wood, editorial director of Sphere Fiction, and publishing teams from Taiwan, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romanic, Spain and Sweden.

 

On Thursday 27th October, it was the launch of Entanglement, The Secret Lives of Hair by Emma Tarlo (Oneworld), which was presented by Bookomi at the Ena Salon in Covent Garden. Young YouTuber Tiana from channel Toys and Me (second left) attended Kidtropolis at ExCel London on Sunday 25th October where she met fans and stamped copies of the special edition Rainbow Magic title inspired by her – Rainbow Magic: Tiana the Toy Fairy (Orchard Books). She was joined by (left-right) Natasha Whearity, marketing assistant at Hachette Children’s Group, Stephanie Allen, senior press officer at Hachette Childrens Group, and Anna Solemani, editor at Orchard Books.

 

US Vogue’s executive fashion editor Phyllis Posnick signed copies of her first book Stoppers: Photographs from My Life at Vogue (Abrams Books) at a special afternoon tea at the Rose Bakery in London’s Dover Street Market on Wednesday 26th October.

Artists and authors including (from left) Laura Knowles, Jennie Webber, Clayton Junior and James Boast, joined the team from Quarto’s words & pictures imprint to toast its new books at a party at Tales on Moon Lane bookshop in London on Thursday 20th October. 

US YA authors Rainbow Rowell (left) and Leigh Bardugo and Rainbow Rowell did a joint “Worlds Collide” tour of bookshops in London, Dublin, Edinburgh and Manchester between 25th and 28th October.
