Alison Croggon, author of the Pellinor series of books, is to make her first foray into Middle Grade with a new fantasy adventure for Walker Books, which acquired world rights in all languages for The Threads of Magic from Veronique Baxter at David Higham Associates, acting on behalf of Jenny Darling & Associates. Walker will publish in the UK in October 2019. (Candlewick has US rights.)
The book follows Pip, who lives on his wits in the city of Clarel. When Pip pickpockets the wrong man, he finds himself in possession of a strange object: a dried-out heart. What’s more, the heart seems to be trying to communicate with Pip, and the royal advisories who lost it will stop at nothing to retrieve it.
Emily McDonnell, senior editor at Walker, said: "A new book from Alison Croggon is always a reason to celebrate, and we’re thrilled to have acquired this atmospheric and riveting fantasy adventure."
