Scholastic has announced the cover for Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man: Big Jim Believes, the latest book in the bestselling Dog Man graphic-novel series.
Pilkey’s Dog Man books follow the adventures of Dog Man (a canine superhero), Li’l Petey (a curious kitten) and 80-HD (a robot). The new "epic adventure" sees the characters delving into "the importance of friendship, truth integrity and gratitude". Big Jim Believes will be published on 11th November 2025.
Pilkey commented: "The Dog Man series has evolved to become a love letter to my parents. I am grateful to them for believing in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. Their optimism, support and encouragement have made a tremendous impact in my life."
Since Dog Man launched in August 2016, the series has been translated into 48 languages and more than 70 million copies of the books are in print to date. Pilkey authored one out of every three graphic novels sold in the UK last year, according to Scholastic.
Ellie Berger, president of Scholastic Trade, said: “Dav Pilkey is a trailblazer and passionate advocate for getting kids to love reading. The release of a new Dog Man book is a momentous global publishing event. November can’t come soon enough!”
This year, Pilkey was shortlisted for Illustrator of the Year and Children’s Illustrated Book of the Year for Dog Man: The Scarlet Shedder at the British Book Awards 2025.
