Michael Joseph has acquired two more books from Australian author Nicola Moriarty.
Following the publication of her debut novel, The Fifth Letter, which has since been optioned for film adaptation by Universal Cable Productions, Moriarty will release her second title, entitled Those Other Women, in May 2018. The "darkly comic" and "seething" thriller looks at the "sometimes fraught" relationship between mothers and those without children in a "baby-obsessed" society.
The two-book deal will be for Moriarty's third and fourth books, details for which ar eyet to be disclosed. Publishing director Maxine Hitchcock acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Sheila Crowley at Curtis Brown.
Hitchcock said: "We are delighted to continue to publish Nicola as her star rises in the UK and internationally. She is a compulsively readable author with a talent for portraying the bonds between friends while tackling controversial issues many women face."
Moriarty said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to have the chance to sign with Michael Joseph for another two books. Maxine Hitchcock and the team were a dream to work with on my previous two novels, so accepting this next deal was by far an easy choice to make."
Those Other Women will be publishing early in e-book on the 1st March 2018 and followed in paperback original on the 3rd May 2018.
