Romantic novelist Jenny Oliver has signed with Egmont Publishing for her debut YA novel, Chelsea High.
The novel is about a girl called Norah Whittaker, who ends up at an exclusive high school when her dad is arrested and her grandparents take charge. Norah quickly learns that polo lessons, ski trips and parties photographed by Tatler come at a price – namely the unwelcome attention of Instagram sensation, and class queen bee, Coco Summers.
Fiction editorial director Lindsey Heaven acquired world rights to two books from Rebecca Ritchie at AM Heath and will publish Chelsea High in summer 2020.
Oliver, also the author of adult novels such as The Summerhouse by the Sea and The Sunshine and Biscotti Club (HQ), said: “I’m so thrilled to be working with Egmont on Chelsea High. They completely got everything about it from the very beginning and are so passionate about the story and the characters. Their vision is spot on and I feel like I have the best team behind the book for this really exciting journey into the YA market.”
Last year Oliver signed a six-figure deal with HQ for another three books.
