I B Tauris has commissioned a new book on the current persecution of the Rohingya people in Myanmar.
The latest attacks in Myanmar have seen hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslims flee the country and Downing Street has called on Myanmar's leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, to take action against the violence.
Journalist Poppy McPherson has been covering the region for publications including the Guardian and TIME, amongst others. Her book The Shadows of Myanmar: Aung San Suu Kyi and the Persecution of the Rohingya will explore the long-term causes of this "catastrophe". It will be published in 2018.
Commissioning editor Tomasz Hoskins said: "This is an incredibly important story which the world needs to hear - reports coming out of the region are becoming more and more worrying.
"Poppy Mcpherson’s work over the last few years reporting from the ground in Myanmar and Bangladesh has been brilliant, and she is absolutely the right person to write this book on the long-term causes of this catastrophe - including on the role of Suu Kyi herself."
The publisher holds world rights.
