Head of Zeus imprint Aria Fiction has signed a four-book deal with Rachel Brimble for her series of novels set in a department store in Bath.
The series was acquired via the Aria author portal, an online site where writers can submit their manuscripts.
Mistress of Pennington is the first in the series. It follows Elizabeth Pennington who is desperate to take over the running of the family store from her father when a surprising ally comes in the form of charismatic glove maker, Joseph Carter.
Brimble has previously written 12 novels, for Mills and Boon and Kensington, and has written 19 novels in total.
Caroline Ridding, publisher at Aria, said: "We are delighted to welcome Rachel to Aria, and look forward to publishing Mistress of Pennington’s in July. It’s perfect for the fans of TV series 'Mr Selfridge and The Paradise'."
Brimble said: "I am absolutely thrilled to have signed a four-book deal with Aria Fiction for my brand new Edwardian series. Having spoken several times with my editor, I know she completely understands my vision for the series and I cannot wait to work with her."
