Elif Shafak’s There Are Rivers in the Sky (Viking) has been selected as the winner of the inaugural Good Housekeeping Good Books Spring Collection.
Shafak’s novel was chosen for its "immersive and powerful storytelling" and is joined in the collection by seven other titles. The "Reader Favourite" picks include Holly Gramazio’s debut The Husbands (Vintage) alongside Susie Dent’s Guilty by Definition (Zaffre) and Francesca De Tores’ Saltblood (Bloomsbury). Ruth Ware’s One Perfect Couple (One) was also selected with Kate Davies’ Nuclear Family (The Borough Press), Bonjour, Sophie (Atlantic) by Elizabeth Buchan and Hanna Thomas Uose’s Who Wants to Live Forever (Brazen).
Katrina Northern, senior marketing manager at Vintage, said: "We’re delighted to have The Husbands by Holly Gramazio as part of the inaugural Good Books selection. Having a book club in this space, and in front of a really engaged audience, is a really exciting opportunity to connect with potential readers and introduce them to their next favourite read."
Creative director at Atlantic Felice McKeown added: "We are delighted to partner with Good Housekeeping on this very welcome initiative: books chosen by readers, for readers."

The eight books were selected from more than 30 submissions and were evaluated by a panel of readers, who are part of the Good Housekeeping VIP membership scheme, and books director Jo Finney. She commented: "It was incredibly tough narrowing down our 30 submissions for the Spring Collection to the final eight books – the quality was so good. Luckily, I had a panel of esteemed readers whose feedback was so insightful, and together we produced a list of books I’m proud to put the Good Books logo on. I can’t wait to see what publishers put forward for the next collection!"
As the lead retailer for Good Books, Waterstones will promote the Spring Collection online and in select shops.
The Summer Collection will be released in July, the Autumn/Winter Collection in September and the Christmas Collection will be published in December this year. Publishers have until 16th May to submit to the Autumn/Winter Collection and 11th July for the Christmas Collection. Submissions should be made to goodbooks@goodhousekeeping.co.uk.
