Harlequin Mills & Boon commissioning editor Sareeta Domingo will join Trapeze in the newly created position of editorial director in January 2022.
Domingo will lead Trapeze’s mission to “publish books that start conversations and cement the imprint’s reputation as one of the most vibrant, dynamic and commercially successful in the industry,” Orion said.
She joins the Trapeze team in January 2022, reporting to Anna Valentine, executive publisher at Trapeze, Seven Dials and Orion Spring. Domingo will manage fiction editor Zoe Yang and she will also work alongside non-fiction publishing director Jamie Coleman to jointly manage editorial assistant Carina Bryan.
Currently a commissioning editor at HarperCollins imprint Harlequin Mills & Boon, Domingo has previously worked as senior editor at Hothouse Fiction and as a freelance editor for publishers including Jacaranda Books and Cassava Republic. She has also been a reader for The Literary Consultancy and was recently a judge for the latest cohort of the London Library Emerging Writers programme. She created, edited and was a contributing writer to the Trapeze anthology Who's Loving You, as well as being the author of several novels, including If I Don’t Have You (Jacaranda), recently shortlisted for the Diverse Book Awards.
Valentine said: “This is a pivotal moment for Trapeze, and Sareeta is the perfect person to take our list to the next level: 2022 is Trapeze’s strongest year yet for agenda-setting novels from exciting and outstanding talent, including the new novel from Candice Carty-Williams and debuts from Jendella Benson, Chloe Ashby and Salma El-Wardany. We were blown away by Sareeta’s vision for the imprint. It’s a real honour to welcome her to the team to continue our commitment to seeking out and publishing underrepresented voices with the full force of Orion’s commercial ambition.”
Domingo said: “I could not be more excited to be joining the incredible team at Orion. The opportunity to help shape the list at such a groundbreaking imprint as Trapeze, at such a pivotal time, is utterly thrilling. Having had the privilege of working with them on my anthology, I cannot wait to be able to help shape the futures of the exciting roster of authors already on the list, and discovering and supporting those to come.”
