Transworld is to publish two books by leading doctor Monty Lyman on the subject of skin and the phenomenon of pain.
Doug Young, publishing director at Transworld, bought UK and Commonwealth rights excluding Canada at auction to two books by Lyman from Charlie Viney at The Viney Shaw Agency.
Skin - An Intimate Journey Across Our Outer Covering will publish in Autumn 2018, with Tell Me Where it Hurts, about the phenomenon of pain, publishing in 2019. North American rights to Skin have been sold to Grove Atlantic and Russian rights to Eksmo.
Lyman travelled the globe to research Skin, including Africa, South Asia and Australasia. Educated at Oxford University, he currently works in a world-leading dermatology institution and is the national head of undergraduate and junior doctor dermatology in the UK. Lyman holds three degrees, has won several national prizes in dermatology and medical writing, and he regularly gives talks at national conferences.
In 2017 he won the Wilfred Thesiger Travel Writing Award for his report on a dermatological research trip to Tanzania, presented by Colin Thubron, President of the Royal Society of Literature.
