Piccadilly Press, part of Bonnier Books UK, has acquired a humorous young fiction series by debut author Simon Mockler.
Beatrix the Bold is a fairy tale parody about a young heroine called Beatrix and her sidekicks Wilfred the Wise, Oi the Boy and Dog the Dog, and is “full of humour, heart and silliness”, according to Piccadilly. The series will be illustrated by Cherie Zamazing.
Commissioning editor Georgia Murray acquired world and translation rights to three books, including e-book and audio, from Chloe Seager at Northbank Talent Management.
“Simon’s writing knocked my socks off when I read it - he has the most wonderfully funny and natural voice and this is a delightful young fiction series that feels both classic and fresh,” said Murray.
Beatrix the Bold and the Curse of the Wobblers will be published in the UK and Ireland in April 2019. The second and third books will follow in September 2019 and February 2020, respectively.
