CrimeFest marks 10th anniversary with 4,000-book giveaway
CrimeFest is celebrating its 10th anniversary by teaming up with publishers to give away 4,000 crime novels for free all over the country.
The giveaway takes place on 5th May, two weeks before the Bristol-based crime festival (17th - 20th May), and was made possible in partnership with publishers, Goldsboro Books and libraries in Bristol, Birmingham, Glasgow and South Tyneside.
The initiative started in Bristol as a thank you to the city that has hosted the convention since 2008. Now it is extending it to benefit crime fiction fans throughout the country.
Book donations came from 11 publishers - Avon, Soho Press, Twenty7, Urbane Publications, Mirror Books, Crime Scene Books, Zaffre, Orenda, Headline, No Exit Press, and Head of Zeus - showcasing crime fiction from 35 authors including Ragnar Jonasson, Leigh Russell, Guy Fraser-Sampson, Corrie Jackson, Claire McGowan, Joy Fielding and Amanda Jennings.
Titles such as James Hazel's The Mayfly (Zaffre) and Mark Roberts' Blood Mist (Head of Zeus) are available from 20 libraries across the UK, in Birmingham, Birmingham, Glasgow and South Tyneside.
The 10th anniversary of CrimeFest this year will host top names Martina Cole, Lee Child and Peter James as speakers. Boasting a line-up of more than 60 events, the four-day festival expects to have close to 500 attendees, including more than 150 authors, agents, publishers and crime fans from across the globe.
