Atlantic imprint Corvus has acquired Rose Carlyle's The Girl in the Mirror, which debuted at number one in the New Zealand adult fiction charts, says the publisher.
Publishing director Sarah Hodgson acquired UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada, Australia and New Zealand) from Maggie Thompson at Allen & Unwin. Corvus will publish in e-book in March 2021 and in paperback the following month.
The Girl in the Mirror is a psychological thriller that tells the story of twin sisters Iris and Summer. Although they are identical, Iris has always felt second-best to Summer, when the family sets sail across the Indian Ocean, Iris is presented with the chance to live Summer's life like she has always wanted.
Hodgson said: "I loved the sound of The Girl in the Mirror as soon as Maggie pitched it to me, and I wasn’t disappointed. I absolutely raced through it and could hardly keep up with the many twists and turns. I’m so happy to be welcoming the talented Rose Carlyle to the Corvus list with her impossible-to-put-down debut. The breathtaking pace of the plot combined with glorious settings make it the perfect summer read."
Carlyle comments: "I am thrilled to be joining the Corvus list. I adored writing this tale of twin heiresses sailing across an ocean soaked in sunshine and danger, and I hope UK readers will enjoy it every bit as much as readers in the Southern Hemisphere."
The Girl in the Mirror was published in Australia by Allen & Unwin on 4th August 2020 and will be published in the US by HarperCollins in October 2020.
