Information service Cengage Learning has acquired the ELT business, which formerly belonged to Marshall Cavendish, boosting its general, special purpose and business English offering.
Cengage, which provides print and digital information services to libraries, will integrate the acquired assets into its existing Heinle ELT business, which is part of its EMEA publishing group.
The Marshall Cavendish ELT business includes its first series title, Just Right, which has been published since 2003, as well as titles under the Summertown imprint.
Jill Jones, president and c.e.o of Cengage Learning EMEA, said: "With this acquisition, we hope to significantly enhance the educational solutions available to instructors and learners of the English language."
Dennis Hogan, president of Heinle, added: "The addition of these high-quality titles underscores our commitment to British English, global publishing, and to providing our customers with the best English language learning and teaching materials."
Shane Armstrong, senior group publisher and head of publishing group at Marshall Cavendish, said: "The divestment of our ELT business to Cengage Learning will allow Marshall Cavendish to focus on our core business in education publishing worldwide."
