Aster, part of the Octopus Publishing Group, has acquired A Year of living Simply: From Complexity to Contentment by Kate Humble.
A Year of Living Simply is the follow up to Humble’s previous book with Aster, the critically acclaimed Thinking on My Feet.
Octopus publishing director Stephanie Jackson, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) from Rosemary Scoular at United Agents. Publication is scheduled for 17th September 2020.
A Year of Living Simply is a frank exploration of Humble’s stripped-back approach to life. Humble explores the route to real, deep, long-lasting happiness and asks whether our lives have just become overly crowded and that we've lost sight of the things—the simple things—that give a sense of achievement, a feeling of joy or excitement? Her book questions whether we need to take a step back, reprioritise and just make our lives more simple?
Humble said: “This book is the manifestation of an increasing and insistent awareness I felt that a life less compacted could prove to be more fulfilling. It was a hugely enjoyable journey of discovery hat helped me realise that convenience is something we often confuse with simplicity, but it robs us of things—skills, small achievements—that bring deep and lasting contentment. In these challenging times, I hope this book will prove as uplifting and inspiring to the readers as it was to write."
Jackson added: “It’s an utter delight to work with Kate Humble on what’s sure to become a classic for our times—a book that’s not only a thoughtful exploration of how to align our values with our lifestyles, through the lens of Kate’s own experience, but one that will immediately compel readers right out of their seats to take their first steps towards a simpler life.”
