Arts Council England has collaborated with Inpress to host a stand at London Book Fair 2026 that will support 12 small, independent publishers to access the event.
Along with tickets and stand space, successful applicants will receive a needs-based bursary covering travel, accommodation and associated costs, with the aim of ensuring “that the diversity and innovation characteristic of England’s small-press sector is properly represented at one of the publishing world’s most important annual events”.
Applications are open until 22nd of December and can be made here. To be eligible, applicants must be a small independent publisher – defined as owner operated, with fewer than five full-time staff members – based in England.

James Urquhart, interim director, literature at Arts Council England, said: “The Arts Council strongly supports the vitality, diversity and energy of the independent publishing sector while recognising that business and operating conditions are currently as tough as ever. We’re pleased to be investing in an opportunity to allow more publishers to access the London Book Fair and its global market and rights opportunities to build growth and profile for their lists.”
Emily Keeling, managing director of Inpress, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with Arts Council England on this project. Small press publishers are doing extraordinary work in challenging circumstances, and we’re extremely grateful to the Arts Council for recognising the importance of supporting independent publishing at this particularly tough time.
“Providing the opportunity for publishers to access the London Book Fair feels like a genuinely meaningful intervention. Inpress is committed to making this as accessible and valuable as possible for the successful applicants and we look forward to seeing independent publishing brilliantly represented at LBF 2026.”
