Atinuke and Kingsley Nebechi | Nibbies Podcast

We are back with two guests for this episode - author Atinuke and illustrator Kingsley Nebechi. When Atinuke started out on her research for this project, her twenty-somethingth book, she expected to cover 2000 years of Brilliant Black British History. It soon emerged that the roots go deeper and that an expansion to 12,000 years was needed. In this episode, host Hannah MacInnes talks to Atinuke and Kingsley about the research and design process for their book, shortlisted for Book of the Year: Children’s Non-Fiction.

Nibbies Podcast: Episode 13

We learn about the moving reactions of not just children but also elders in the Black British community, how the contributions of enslaved people were not given due credit for innovation until recently and hear of a spectacular ‘aha!’ moment in the British Library.
