Titan to publish horror anthology of deals with the Devil

Titan Books has acquired Where Devils Stand, a horror anthology of original stories about deals with the Devil from the Bram Stoker Award-nominated Johnny Compton.

Senior editor Daniel Carpenter acquired world all-language rights from Lane Heymont at the Tobias Literary Agency, with publication scheduled for September 2027.

Billed as perfect for fans of Mike Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher and When Things Get Dark: Stories Inspired by Shirley Jackson, the anthology “explores the multifaceted nature of evil, the choices that define us, and the moments when we stand at the crossroads where devils appear”.

It will feature stories from writers including Cynthia Pelayo, Tananarive Due, Hailey Piper, Nat Cassidy, Clay McLeod Chapman and Philip Fracassi, among others.

Carpenter said: “Johnny Compton is one of the most exciting names in horror at the moment, and I’m thrilled to be bringing his boundless energy and keen editorial eye to this brilliant anthology.”

Compton said: “I’ve always loved this quote from English author Alan Garner: ’I set outlandish stories in real places so that [readers] can say, I don’t believe that happened, but I can tell you where it happened.’ This anthology may not quite convince you the Devil is real, but you’ll be able to say you know where he lives.”
