Electric Monkey, Farshore’s YA imprint, has acquired The Fox Bride and a second standalone title by Sasha Peyton Smith, the bestselling author of The Rose Bargain and sequel The Thorn Queen.
Editorial director Sarah Levison bought UK and Commonwealth rights in a two-book deal with Sarah Mitchell, translation agent at the Creative Artists Agency UK, on behalf of Hillary Jacobson, literary agent at the Creative Artists Agency US.
The Fox Bride, scheduled for UK publication in April 2027, followed by the standalone in spring 2028, is described as a “sweeping romantic fantasy of art and prophecy, magic and royalty, heartbreak and epic love, set in the aftermath of a magical war”.
The blurb reads: “Cass, the daughter of a duke, is bound to Prince Holden in an arranged marriage. But Cass’ rare abilities may be the prince’s only hope of finding an enchanted painting rumoured to show the end of the world. If only Holden can let Cass into his world and into his heart…”
Levison said: “I couldn’t be more excited about publishing The Fox Bride – Sasha is our bestselling queen of alternate-history romance and her lush, romantic voice and extraordinary gift for worldbuilding make this a standout romantasy; equal parts heartbreak, mystery and stolen-art swagger. I can’t wait for readers to fall for Cass and Holden’s captivating and unforgettable story in 2027.”
Peyton Smith said: “I’ve had the idea for this book in my head for years. Childhood friends bound together in an arranged marriage, plus the sparkling world of royals and art thieves has truly been so much fun to write. Getting to release it with Electric Monkey is nothing short of a dream come true. This is now our third book together and I’m constantly in awe of the creativity, kindness and brilliance of everyone on the team."
