The Broken Binding Publishing has snapped up The Demon Star, the debut "horror-tinged epic science fantasy" novel from Jesse Aragon.
Publishing director Marcus Gipps acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in a two-book deal from Imogen Bovill at Abner Stein, on behalf of 2 Seas Agency for DAW Books and John Baker and Julie Gourinchas from Bell Lomax Moreton. The Demon Star will be published simultaneously with DAW Books in the US on 28th July 2026.
The synopsis reads: "On a planet oppressed by parasitic gods, a young prince possessed by a god-killing demon, and the unlikely allies – a disgraced exorcist and the boy’s estranged mother – must decide whether to save the world or conquer it."
Gipps commented: "The Broken Binding Publishing was looking for our first debut author, and when we read The Demon Star we knew this was a book we wanted to make a fuss about. Jesse is a great writer, the book is excellent and we’re delighted to bring it to our readers."
Matt Holland, director and founder, added: “The Demon Star is the perfect fit for The Broken Binding Publishing, the blend of science fiction and fantasy is exactly what our readers love, and we can’t wait to get this book into our readers hands. I’m really excited to have this on our list.”
Aragon said: “I’m beyond excited to work with The Broken Binding, as a longtime fan of their work. This is an amazing opportunity and I can’t wait to share The Demon Star with UK readers.”
