Sphere acquires Henry Lewis' interactive puzzle mystery
Sphere has acquired 66 Murders, an interactive puzzle mystery by writer, performer and puzzle creator Henry Lewis.
Tig Wallace, publishing director, acquired world all-language rights from Marilia Savvides at The Plot Agency. The book is scheduled for publication in November 2026.
The synopsis says: “66 Murders is an interactive puzzle experience featuring 66 self-contained murder cases that increase in difficulty as readers progress. Each case invites amateur detectives to study the facts, explore the crime scene and piece together the clues to identify the killer.”
The publisher said the investigations take place across a range of locations, from English manor houses and Japanese gardens to the West Yorkshire Knitting Association.
The book combines visual puzzles, logic challenges and short mystery scenarios, with each case designed to be solved in a single sitting.
Lewis said: “Writing 66 Murders has been such enormous fun. I hope readers enjoy puzzling over the clues and ground plans as much as I’ve enjoyed putting them together. After writing two longer-form puzzle books it’s been an exciting experience to writing these bitesize puzzles which are perfect for trains, planes and Sundays when it rains!”
Lewis is an Olivier Award-winning writer, actor and artistic director of Mischief Theatre. His stage credits include The Play That Goes Wrong, Peter Pan Goes Wrong, The Comedy About Spies and The Comedy About a Bank Robbery. His latest book, The Mystery Agency: The Bookshop Murder (Puffin), was published earlier this year.
