Seven Dials bags Rosie Kelly Smith’s debut book on ‘navigating motherhood through the generations’
Seven Dials, imprint of Orion Publishing Group, has acquired Mother to Mother: Navigating Motherhood Through the Generations, the debut book from Rosie Kelly Smith. Editorial director Beth Eynon pre-empted world all-language rights from Carly Cook at Carly Cook Ltd, for publication in February 2026.
In Mother to Mother, Kelly Smith shares “universal truths” alongside the pieces of advice you can “definitely ignore”, learned through generations, from Kelly Smith’s mum’s birth in 1959, to her own in 1994 and to daughter Billie’s in 2024.
The publisher describes the book as a “gloriously comforting and extremely honest open invitation to find five minutes of peace and solitude with people who can help – other mums".
Eynon said: “I am incredibly proud to be publishing Rosie’s debut book here at Seven Dials. Mother to Mother is pure comfort in book form and Rosie writes so beautifully about her own motherhood journey as well as her family story. There are now four generations of Kelly women and Rosie’s book captures the changing pressures, joys and advice mums have had to contend with and sift through for generations. We cannot wait for readers to connect with, and see themselves in Rosie’s uplifting and affirming writing.”
Kelly Smith has worked for HELLO! Magazine and Times Radio, and developed and co-hosts her podcast What If? with her mum, Lorraine Kelly.
She said: “I’m thrilled and honoured to be publishing my first book with Orion. It is the book I couldn’t find on the shelves when I was expecting Billie and the book I wish I could have flicked through at 3am to check if what was happening was normal.
“Being pregnant and having a baby is one of the most intense and rewarding experiences, but there comes a minefield of advice you have to navigate your way around. The advice is mostly well-meaning, but it is sometimes… not. This book isn’t a how-to or a guide, but based on generational stories that can give comfort and reassurance to mums that they’re not alone.”
Mother to Mother will be published on 26th February 2026 in hardback, priced at £22, plus in e-book and audiobook formats.
