Rosalind Beardshaw’s Maudie & Chip picture book series goes to Farshore
Farshore has acquired a "charming" new picture book series, Maudie & Chip, written and illustrated by Rosalind Beardshaw. The first entry in the series, Maudie & Chip: A Perfect Day Out, will be published on 4th June 2026.
Editorial director Emily Lamm and creative director Tiffany Leeson acquired world all-language rights for two books from Heather Richards at Tallbean. Beardshaw is currently represented by Emma Layfield at Children’s Books North Agency.
The series will feature "fun-filled, character-led adventures with a gentle message about empathy, resilience and friendship, ideal for budding young explorers". Maudie & Chip: A Perfect Day Out will feature "stunning, sophisticated nostalgic retro styling" from Beardshaw, and is ideal for readers aged three and up and fans of Oliver Jeffers, Tom Percival or Sarah Warburton.
Lamm said: "Ros is already a bestselling illustrator on the Farshore list, and we are so proud to be launching her first picture book series as author-illustrator. In Maudie & Chip, Rosalind has created two very special characters, whose love and care for each other infuses the story and travels beyond the page to welcome the reader into their world."
Beardshaw is a multi-award-winning and bestselling author and illustrator, known for illustrating the When a Dragon… series, written by Caryl Hart, and My Pet Star, written by Corrinne Averiss, winner of the Sainsbury’s Children’s Book of the Year along with several other awards. Beardshaw’s books have been translated into more than 20 languages.
