Black & White Publishing has landed Behind Frenemy Lines, the second “sharp-eyed” YA novel from Lauren Price.
Campbell Brown, managing director, acquired world rights from Joanna Swainson at Hardman & Swainson. The novel will be published in May 2022.
Black & White wrote: “The book follows star student Erika Monroe, who is approached to plot the expulsion of Chase Thatcher in return for a scholarship to her dream college. She finds the idea of ending his reign as Lindale High’s notorious flirt and rule-breaker too tempting to refuse.
“But as Erika finds herself increasingly entangled in a web of lies, moral dilemmas and bad behaviour (not to mention those pesky feelings), it quickly becomes clear that her path to Stanford won’t be as clear-cut as she had hoped. Confronted by decisions about who she is and what she stands for, how long can Erika continue to hide behind frenemy lines?”
Brown commented: “We love the authentic way Lauren writes and how close a relationship she has to her readers. Behind Frenemy Lines is a creative, fun-filled premise, with delightful characters that had us laughing out loud. Lauren has such a distinct voice in the YA genre, and we are so pleased to be working with her again to publish her new novel.”
Price, author of A Bad Boy Stole My Bra (Ink Road), added: “I cannot believe that it’s almost time for Behind Frenemy Lines to meet the world. This book has been a passion project since I was 15 years old, and we have both grown so much since that wobbly first draft. This book means so much to me, and I am beyond thrilled to be able to share it.”
