Puffin has acquired You, Me and ADHD, a debut children’s book from TV presenter and I’m a Celebrity winner Sam Thompson.
Fenella Bates, non-fiction publisher at Puffin, and Phoebe Jascourt, formerly senior commissioning editor at Puffin, acquired world rights in all languages from Jonny Wilkinson at Insanity. The book will publish in paperback, e-book and audiobook on 14th May 2026, with the audiobook read by Thompson.
Thompson was diagnosed with ADHD at 30 during filming of his Channel 4 documentary Is This ADHD? and was appointed ambassador of ADHD UK in 2024. The book shares his personal anecdotes and insights into his ADHD journey, alongside advice for parents and carers.
Thompson said: "Being diagnosed with ADHD as an adult was life-changing and life-affirming. Crucially, it gave me a lot of answers, and for the first time enabled me to reflect on my childhood and life with a new perspective. While ADHD looks different for everyone – I wanted to write a book for children and young people that I wish I could have read at school."
Bates added: "We are incredibly proud to be working with Sam on his first book for children, helping him to continue championing the thousands of young people who are living with ADHD in the UK today. Sam has brought all of his warmth, honesty and humour to this informative book full of anecdotes and the advice he’s learnt on his own journey, which also shares an important message with children: being different isn’t anything to be ashamed of."
