Pansy makes first acquisition with Laura Kay's new novel
Pansy, a new queer publishing house, has made its first acquisition with Laura Kay’s new novel The Point of it All.
UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, were acquired by founders Matt Cain and Harry Glasstone from Emma Finn at C&W, with the book set to be published as a lead title on 11th March 2027.
The acquisition follows a “significant” deal in the US, where Carina Guiterman at Simon & Schuster won an auction for North American rights in a six-figure acquisition.
The publisher described the books, which spans decades, as an unforgettable love story about timing, friendship and soulmates, following Ros and Holland from their teenage years through the twists and turns of adulthood.
The synopsis continues: “When Ros and Holland meet as teenagers, Ros is bookish, desperately trying to avoid the scourge of 1990s crop tops, and having big feelings about her first kiss with a girl at school, while Holland is making out with dubious boys in even more dubious bars and idly dreaming of life as a touring musician. Their connection is immediate. It’s electric. It’s life-changing for them both.
”Over the decades that follow, Ros and Holland are inseparable, even when they’re separated by several thousand miles of ocean. They’re best friends. They’re so much more than that. They’re each other’s favourite person. But do they want the same things? And even if they do, will they ever get out of their own way long enough to see it?“
