Nosy Crow to publish 'powerful' non-fiction title with University of Cambridge
Nosy Crow will publish a "powerful" new non-fiction title with the University of Cambridge, written by Catherine Blackledge and illustrated by Kasia Bogdańska. Lauren Fairgrieve, non-fiction editor at Nosy Crow, acquired world rights to The Animal Queendom: A Celebration of Nature’s Fearless Females from Anna Pallai at AMP Literary and Marlena Torzecka at Marlena Agency Inc.
The book has been created in collaboration with the University of Cambridge, with advice from Dr Rosalyn Wade at the University Museum of Zoology. The publisher described The Animal Queendom as a "stunningly illustrated gift title, perfect for animal lovers and nature enthusiasts alike", which "shines an important and much-needed light on the world’s most ferociously intelligent female wildlife, who have historically been overlooked by scientific researchers in favour of their male counterparts".
The synopsis continues: "Welcome to the animal queendom, home to the world’s most amazing wildlife! It’s time to celebrate the incredible members of the queendom – female animals that deserve their turn in the scientific spotlight after being overlooked or underestimated. From murderous mammals and record- breaking birds to spectacular snakes and self-cloning insects, prepare to discover a different side of Earth’s awe-inspiring female creatures."
